A two to four hour drive is usually faster in practice than a comparable short-haul flight once you add airport transfers, security, boarding and baggage reclaim. It is also more predictable: no cancellations, no gate changes, no missed connections. For groups of two to six the economics tilt further, because you are paying per vehicle rather than per seat, and the luggage that would cost extra on a flight simply goes in the back.
Long-distance work requires more than a willing driver.
